Rangamati, Feb 11, (V7N) – Mufti Syed Muhammad Faizul Karim, Senior Vice Amir of Islami Andolon Bangladesh, has stated that any election held without necessary reforms will not be accepted. He emphasized that essential reforms must be made before the election. If elections are held without these reforms, they will be questionable, and the people will not accept them.

Addressing the interim government of the country, he said, “There is no rush. First, make the necessary reforms and then hold the election. If the election is held without reforms, it will be disputed, and the people will reject it.”

He made these comments while addressing a public gathering held in the municipal grounds of Rangamati city on Monday, February 10, afternoon.

Referring to the situation in the Chattogram Hill Tracts, Sheikh-e-Charmonai (Mufti Faizul Karim) said, "Discrimination is ongoing in the Hill Tracts. Indigenous people are themselves victims of discrimination. The peace treaty in the hills has only led to unrest. We want peace in the hills, a discrimination-free region, and no disputes. We, both hill people and Bengali people, want to live under the same national identity as citizens of Bangladesh. If people from outside the region can buy land in the hill region, outsiders should also have the same rights. We do not want two separate policies in the same country. The law that applies here must apply across the entire country. If anyone attempts to seize land in this region, we will stop them and thwart all conspiracies."

Mufti Faizul Karim further emphasized, “We want a rapid completion of the border road, strengthened border security, and no unrest disguised as a peace agreement. We do not want different laws in the Hill Tracts. We want one constitution for the entire country, with equality for all.”

The gathering, which called for the trial of those responsible for mass killings, arrest of corrupt individuals, confiscation of ill-gotten wealth, and a proportional representation system for national elections, was presided over by Alhaj Muhammad Jasim Uddin, President of Islami Andolon Rangamati District, and conducted by Maulana Noor Hossain, District Secretary. Special guests at the event included Alhaj Jannatul Islam, Chattogram Division Organizing Secretary, Central Member Alhaj Al Muhammad Iqbal, Central Organizing Secretary of Islami Youth Movement Bangladesh Maulana Arif Bin Mehher Uddin, Central Chattogram Division Organizing Secretary of Islami Labor Movement Bangladesh Alhaj Shariful Alam, and Chattogram Division Organizing Secretary of Islami Lawyers' Council, Advocate Parvez Talukdar. Several leaders from Islami Andolon Rangamati District’s affiliated organizations and various political parties were also present.

At the conclusion of the conference, the newly appointed president of Islami Andolon Bangladesh Rangamati District for the 2025-2026 session, Alhaj Muhammad Jasim Uddin, along with Vice Presidents Advocate Parvez Talukdar and Maulana Omar Faruk, and General Secretary, were announced as part of the partial committee.
