Dhaka, Feb 09 (V7N) – BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has squarely blamed Sheikh Hasina and her fascist regime for the ongoing chaos and instability in Bangladesh, urging citizens to remain vigilant and not fall into Hasina's "trap."

Speaking to reporters at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport upon returning from the United States on Sunday, Mirza Fakhrul, accompanied by Standing Committee Member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, expressed concern over the worsening law and order situation in the country. The two leaders had participated in the ‘National Prayer Breakfast’ in Washington, D.C.

"The fascist regimes are still active. Therefore, we must remain united and tread carefully," said Fakhrul, emphasizing that the country's current instability is rooted in the government's authoritarian actions.

Meanwhile, during a symbolic sit-in at the National Press Club demanding immediate elections, BNP leader Zainul Abdin Faruk criticized the government’s failure to maintain law and order. "It is not possible to control the chaotic situation by keeping Awami League allies inside the administration," he said.

BNP leaders have also warned that delaying elections could escalate tensions further. "If elections are delayed, no one will have a chance to escape," stated a party representative during the sit-in, hinting at growing frustration among the opposition ranks.

In a separate discussion at the Press Club, BNP Standing Committee Member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy alleged that despite their verbal opposition, many of the current advisors have covert connections with India. His remarks reflect the BNP's longstanding suspicion of foreign influence in the country’s political affairs.

Roy also questioned the Yunus-led interim government's intentions regarding recent voter list reforms, specifically the move to lower the voting age. "It is time to investigate whether the Yunus government has any hidden motives in altering the voter list," he added.

BNP leaders remain steadfast in their call for a neutral electoral process and continue to accuse the Awami League of manipulating administrative structures to cling to power.
