Pabna, Feb 21 (V7N) - Despite jumping into the river to escape, Union Sramik League leader Nayeb Ali (48) was unable to avoid arrest. He was apprehended by police in the middle of the river.
Nayeb Ali, the vice president of the Union Sramik League and a member of the 1st ward of Nimaichara Union Parishad, was arrested on February 20 at 1:30 PM from the Bishwanathpur area of Nimaichara Union in Chatmohor Upazila, Pabna.
Police reported that Nayeb Ali had been in hiding for a long time to avoid arrest. Acting on a tip-off, the police launched an operation to arrest him at Bishwanathpur. Upon seeing the police, Nayeb Ali jumped into the Gumi River. The police were able to arrest him in the middle of the river. He is an accused in an explosive-related case filed at the Chatmohor police station.
SI Taher Ali from the Handial Police Investigation Center mentioned that the police saw Nayeb Ali in the river and successfully arrested him. He was later transferred to the Chatmohor police station.
Chatmohor Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Manjurul Alam stated that Nayeb Ali had been in hiding for a while, and following intelligence information, the police, with assistance from the Handial Police Investigation Center, managed to arrest him. After completing legal formalities, he was sent to jail through the court.
