Kurigram, Feb 23, (V7N) – A protest march was organized by the general Muslim public of all classes in Chilmari, demanding the arrest and punishment of Nahid Hasan Knowledge for disrespecting Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on Facebook. The protesters have given an ultimatum for his arrest by 10 AM tomorrow.

On Saturday, February 22, after the Maghrib prayers at the Thanahat Central Jame Mosque, the protesters took to the streets. The procession started from the mosque, moved through Thanahat Bazaar, passed the Matikata intersection, and gathered in front of the Chilamari Model Police Station.

The march concluded at the Upazila Parishad, where the protesters issued an ultimatum for the arrest of Nahid Hasan by 10 AM Sunday. They warned of severe protests if the police failed to act.

Nahid Hasan had shared a post from Islamic speaker Abu Taha Muhammad’s Facebook account, commenting, "The vile people calling our mother 'Qaumi Janani' are threatening to kill. Will they not be arrested?" This comment sparked anger among the Muslim community, and he later deleted the post.

Nahid Hasan, the son of Abdul Mannan from the Ramna Model Union’s Government Bari area, is a teacher at Char Shakhahati Primary School in the Chilamari Union. He is also a member of the Bangladesh Artist Welfare Trustee Board.

Chilmari Model Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mushahid Khan stated, "Legal action will be taken based on the investigation."
