Jhalakathi, Mar 12 (V7N) – Islami Chhatra Andolan Bangladesh organized a protest march in Rajapur, Jhalakathi, demanding the death penalty for rapists and stricter laws to curb sexual violence across the country.
The demonstration began at 11 a.m. on Wednesday (March 12) from the party office near the bypass intersection. Protesters marched through various roads in the city before concluding in front of the Rajapur Press Club. The event was led by Islami Chhatra Andolan Rajapur Upazila President Md. Mahmudul Hasan and moderated by Upazila General Secretary Md. Belal Hafsi.
Islami Andolan Bangladesh Jhalokati District Secretary Hafez Ibrahim Al Hadi attended as the chief guest. Other speakers included District Vice President M. Aminul Islam and District Organizing Secretary Md. Ishaq Bin Awal. Leaders, activists, and students from various institutions participated in the march.
Speakers highlighted the alarming rise in rape incidents and called for swift and severe punishments for offenders. They also stressed the importance of strengthening moral education and religious values in society. The protest concluded with a special prayer for justice and social reform.
