Rajshahi, Mar 12 (V7N) – A climate finance consultation meeting was held at the Godagari Upazila Administrative Meeting Room under the Cultivating Change Project. The event, organized by the Association for Community Development (ACD) in collaboration with Oxfam Bangladesh, brought together service providers, civil society representatives, media personnel, and stakeholders to discuss climate financing challenges and solutions.
Godagari Upazila Executive Officer Faisal Ahmed, the chief guest, emphasized the need for transparency and accountability in managing funds from national and international sources to address climate change. He warned that ineffective governance could undermine the fund’s primary objectives and hinder future financial flows.
During the open discussion, speakers highlighted the disproportionate impact of climate change on women and children. They called for better documentation of women's struggles, greater engagement with policymakers, and the development of gender-sensitive policies.
The meeting also focused on raising awareness among indigenous women about climate change’s impact on agriculture, promoting locally-led adaptation efforts, and ensuring access to climate finance in the Barendra region.
Invited guests included Upazila Social Service Officer Md. Abdul Manik, Upazila Youth Development Officer Md. Sohel Rana, Additional Agriculture Officer Rita Parveen, Upazila Women’s Affairs Officer Nilufar Yasmin, and representatives from the BMDA and media.
