Rajshahi, Mar 15 (V7N) – Police in Tanore, Rajshahi, have arrested a father-in-law on charges of attempting to rape his daughter-in-law. Habibur Rahman, 40, was apprehended on Friday evening. He is the son of Saimuddin from Mohammadpur village in Tanore.

According to the complaint, on March 12, Habibur Rahman attempted to rape his daughter-in-law when no one else was at home. Subsequently, the daughter-in-law, out of shame, left her husband's home and went to her father's house in Dighipara village, Nachol upazila, Chapainawabganj, without informing anyone.

Later, her husband, Rabiul, went to Nachol on Friday to bring her back. It was then that she disclosed the harrowing incident to him.

Following this revelation, Rabiul returned alone from his in-laws' house on Friday afternoon and confronted his father, Habibur Rahman. This led to an altercation, and local residents, upon learning of the incident, alerted the police. Police arrived and rescued Habibur Rahman from the agitated villagers, taking him into custody.

Rabiul Islam has filed a case against his father, Habibur Rahman, for attempted rape. Habibur Rahman is currently in the custody of the Tano police station and will be sent to the Rajshahi court on Saturday morning, according to OC Afzal Hossain.
