Kanthalia, Jhalakathi, APR 13 (V7N)– A vibrant Spring Festival, titled "Basant Vilas," was held at the picturesque bird sanctuary (Pakhirchar) nestled in the middle of the Bishkhali River in Shauljalia Union, Kantalia Upazila, Jhalakathi District.

The festive event took place on the evening of Saturday, April 12th, and was organized by the upazila administration, bringing together a diverse group of attendees.
"The Basant Vilas was held on the evening of last Saturday (April 12) organized by the upazila administration. In addition to the district administration, upazila administration, officials and employees of the district's other three upazila administrations and teachers from various educational institutions were present," the report confirmed.
The gathering served as a platform to discuss the rich cultural heritage of Bengal, the Sankranti festival (marking the end of the Bengali month of Chaitra), and the upcoming Boishakh (Bengali New Year) welcome festival. The evening also featured engaging spring cultural performances.
"The event discussed the current culture of Bengal, the Sankranti festival and the Boishakh welcome festival, and held spring cultural events," the correspondent noted.
The event was presided over by Upazila Executive Officer Md. Zahirul Islam. Deputy Commissioner Ashrafur Rahman graced the occasion as the chief guest, while District Police Superintendent Ujjal Kumar Roy attended as a special guest.

"Among others, Nalchiti Upazila Executive Officer Md. Nazrul Islam, Rajapur Upazila Executive Officer Rahul Chanda, Jhalakathi Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Farhana Yasmin, etc. spoke at the event," the correspondent added.
The evening culminated in a captivating spring music and poetry recital, skillfully conducted by Shipra Mitra, an assistant teacher at the local government primary school.
