Nalchiti, Jhalakathi, APR 13 (V7N) – A head-on collision between a CNG-powered three-wheeler and a motorcycle in Nalchiti, Jhalakathi, has tragically resulted in the death of a madrasa superintendent and injuries to five other passengers. The accident occurred at approximately 9:30 PM local time on Saturday, April 12th, in the Bharatkathi area of the upazila, along the Barisal-Patuakhali regional road.
"A madrasa superintendent named Md. Golam Mostafa (56) was killed and 5 (five) other passengers were injured in a head-on collision between a CNG (three-wheeler, runs on CNG) and a motorcycle in Nalchiti, Jhalakathi," reported a Jhalakathi Representative.
The deceased has been identified as Md. Golam Mostafa, 56, the superintendent of Chandramohan Dakhil Madrasa in Barisal Sadar Upazila. He was the son of the late Amjad Ali Howlader, hailing from Kathalia village in the Rangashree Union of Bakerganj Upazila.
"The deceased, Md. Golam Mostafa, was the superintendent of Chandramohan Dakhil Madrasa in Barisal Sadar Upazila. He was the son of the late Amjad Ali Howlader of Kathalia village in Rangashree Union of Bakerganj Upazila," the report detailed.
According to police sources, the madrasa superintendent, along with three other passengers, was traveling from Barisal towards Bakerganj in a CNG-powered three-wheeler. En route, their vehicle collided head-on with a motorcycle traveling in the opposite direction. The impact of the collision resulted in serious injuries to the driver and passengers of the CNG, as well as the two individuals riding the motorcycle.
"According to police sources, the superintendent and three passengers were going from Barisal to Bakerganj in a CNG-powered vehicle (three-wheeler). On the way, the vehicle collided head-on with a motorcycle coming from the other direction. In this, the driver and passengers of the CNG vehicle and two riders on the motorcycle were seriously injured," the correspondent stated.
Local residents who witnessed the aftermath of the accident rushed to the scene and rescued the injured, subsequently transporting them to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital for treatment. Tragically, Madrasa Superintendent Golam Mostafa succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the hospital overnight. Police have since seized both the motorcycle and the CNG-powered vehicle involved in the fatal collision.
"Locals rescued them and sent them to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital. Madrasa superintendent Golam Mostafa died while undergoing treatment there (at night). Police have seized the motorcycle and CNG vehicle," the report confirmed.
Md. Abdus Salam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nalchiti Police Station, has confirmed the incident and stated that legal proceedings are underway in connection with the road accident.
"Nalchiti Police Station OC Md. Abdus Salam confirmed this information and said that legal action is under process in this regard," OC Abdus Salam said.
The tragic death of the madrasa superintendent and the injuries sustained by others highlight the dangers prevalent on the region's roads. Authorities are expected to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision.
