Jhalokathi, Dec 23 (V7N) — The Jhalokathi district unit of Islami Chhatra Andolon organized a prayer gathering in memory of martyred Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of the Inqilab Manch. The doa and munajat were held on Tuesday (December 23) at 10:30 am during the district conference of Islami Chhatra Andolon at the Jhalokathi Press Club auditorium.

Maulana Sirajul Islam Siraji, a central Shura member of Islami Andolon Bangladesh and parliamentary candidate for the Jhalokathi-2 constituency, attended the event as the chief guest.

The program was chaired by Islami Chhatra Andolon Jhalokathi district president Muhammad Waliullah Sardar. Among others present were Islami Chhatra Andolon central joint secretary Md. Fayzul Islam, Islami Andolon Jhalokathi district president Hafez Alamgir Hossain, Islami Jubo Andolon central organizing secretary Maulana Md. Al Amin, Islami Andolon USA chapter adviser Maulana Abdur Rahman, Islami Andolon district secretary Hafez Qari Ibrahim Al Hadi, and Bangladesh Mujahid Committee Jhalokathi district chief Md. Mokhtar Ahmed.

In a separate event, a condolence meeting and prayer mahfil were held in Rajair, Madaripur, in memory of martyred Sharif Osman bin Hadi. The program took place on Monday (December 22) at around 6:00 pm at the office of the Mofossol Journalists Forum near Rajair Police Station, organized by the Rajair Upazila unit of the Bangladesh Mofossol Journalists Forum (BMSF).

The meeting was presided over by BMSF Rajair Upazila president SM Ferdous Hossain and conducted by general secretary Mehedi Hasan Sohel. Maulana Abdus Sobhan Khan, parliamentary candidate of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami for the Madaripur-2 constituency, addressed the gathering as the chief guest.

Others present included senior vice president Arifuzzaman Tipu, vice president Rakibul Hasan Babul, joint general secretaries Sohel Sikder, Ali Sheikh, Al Mamun and Bipul Das, organizing secretary Awal Fakir, assistant organizing secretary Sanowar Hossain, finance secretary Abul Hasan, law affairs secretary Mehedi Hasan Sonet, publicity and publication secretary Mahmudul Hasan, and executive members Bacchu Sheikh, Nazmul and Al Amin.

Speakers at the events alleged that attempts were being made to destabilize the country ahead of elections by targeting and killing July movement activists. They said that killing one Hadi would not stop the movement, noting that the massive turnout of hundreds of thousands of people at his funeral prayers reflected his popularity and influence. They described Sharif Osman Hadi as a revolutionary voice of the country and a symbol of protest for the younger generation, while also calling on law enforcement agencies to remain more vigilant and proactive to ensure public safety.
