RAJSHAHI, Feb 13, (V7N) – The results of the six parliamentary constituencies in Rajshahi district were officially announced by the District Returning Officer’s office on Thursday night following the completion of vote counting in all polling centres.
In Rajshahi-1 (Tanore-Godagari), out of 160 centres, Jamaat-nominated candidate Mujibur Rahman secured 171,786 votes, while BNP candidate Sharif Uddin obtained 169,902 votes. Mujibur Rahman was elected by a narrow margin of 1,884 votes.
In Rajshahi-2 (Sadar), where voting was held in 116 centres, Jamaat candidate Dr. Mohammad Jahangir received 133,370 votes, defeating BNP candidate Mizanur Rahman Minu, who got 128,546 votes.
In Rajshahi-3 (Paba-Mohanpur), BNP candidate Advocate Shafiqul Haque Milan won the seat with 176,378 votes from 131 centres. His nearest rival, Jamaat candidate Professor Abul Kalam Azad, secured 137,927 votes.
In Rajshahi-4 (Bagmara), results from all 122 polling stations show that Jamaat-nominated candidate Dr. Abdul Bari Sardar received 115,226 votes, while BNP candidate DMD Ziaur Rahman got 109,461 votes. Dr. Abdul Bari Sardar won the constituency by a margin of 8,449 votes.
In Rajshahi-5 (Puthia-Durgapur), BNP-backed candidate Principal Nazrul Islam Mandal emerged victorious with 153,425 votes from 132 centres. Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Maulana Manzur Rahman received 73,445 votes.
Meanwhile, in Rajshahi-6 (Charghat-Bagha), BNP candidate Abu Sayeed Chand won the seat after securing 148,672 votes from 119 polling stations. His closest competitor, Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Nazmul Haque, received 92,965 votes.
Election officials said the counting process was completed peacefully, and the final consolidated results were compiled based on returns from all polling centres across the six constituencies.
