UKHIA, Cox’s Bazar, Mar 13, (V7N) – Police have solved the mystery of the murder of housewife Jadida Akhter (22) in Ukhia, Cox’s Bazar, arresting a youth based on information technology and secret intelligence.
The victim’s body was found Wednesday morning at her home in Musarkhola area of Palangkhali Union, with stab wounds on her neck and head. Her father, Nurul Islam, filed a case against unknown persons.
Police said Jadida, married to daily wage laborer Shafiqul Islam for five years, had two children. Shafiqul had gone to Bandarban about 20 days earlier in search of work. Family members discovered Jadida’s body when calling her for sehri.
On Thursday afternoon, police arrested Nur Shahin (18) from a house near Gayalmara MSF Hospital. During interrogation, he confessed to involvement in the murder. Acting on his information, police recovered a 21‑inch sharp blade with a wooden handle from the banks of Chittakhola Canal.
Sub‑Inspector Abdul Azad said: “Initially, it was a clueless case. Based on information technology and secret information, a person was arrested in a quick raid and the weapon used in the murder was also recovered. The investigation is ongoing.”
Officer‑in‑Charge Mujibur Rahman confirmed that an application has been made to hand over the accused to court and send him to jail.
