Rajshahi, April 22, (V7N) — The Rajshahi College branch of the Bangladesh Nationalist Chhatra Dal (JCD) held a protest march and rally on Wednesday, demanding a ban on the "secret politics" allegedly conducted by Chhatra Shibir. The demonstration took place on the college campus at approximately 12:00 PM.
Led by local leaders, the procession circled several campus roads before concluding with a rally in front of the Second Science Building. During the event, speakers expressed their strong opposition to any political activities carried out under the guise of anonymity or within clandestine frameworks.
Khalid Bin Walid (Abir), the convener of Rajshahi College Chhatra Dal, alleged that Chhatra Shibir has been operating secretly across various campuses both before and after the political shifts of August 5. He claimed that by working under the veil of "ordinary students," the organization had inadvertently strengthened the position of the Chhatra League in the past. He also cited recent incidents in Chittagong where protesters against such activities were reportedly attacked.
"Secret politics will not be allowed to continue on any campus in Bangladesh," Khalid Bin Walid stated during the rally. "If you wish to engage in politics, it must be done openly and transparently. Otherwise, the Chhatra Dal will resist it."
The protest was attended by several senior local leaders, including joint convener Rashikuzzaman Pritam, and student leaders Samiul Islam Shimul, Zubair Rashid, and Zahid Hasan, among others. Representatives from the Boalia Thana West Chhatra Dal, including member secretary Nehal Ahmed Raihan and joint convener Nur Mohammad Emon, also joined the demonstration in solidarity.
