RAJSHAHI , May 6, (V7N) — Local residents and leaders of the Upazila Network Committee staged a human chain at Kankanhat Railway Station in Godagari upazila, urging authorities to build a ramp for safer boarding and alighting of passengers.

The hour‑long demonstration began at noon Wednesday. Speakers said passengers face serious risks while getting on and off trains due to the absence of ramps, despite the presence of a footover bridge. Elderly, children, and physically ill passengers are particularly vulnerable, with accidents more likely during rainy or adverse weather conditions.

Organizers noted that 1,200–1,500 passengers use the station daily, making safety measures urgent. Elderly commuters shared their struggles, saying a ramp would greatly ease their travel.

Following the human chain, a memorandum was submitted to the Bangladesh Railway Western Zone General Manager and Kankanhat Municipality authorities.
