Mongla, Aug. 15 (V7N) — Police have intensified patrols and security checks in Mongla to prevent criminal activities, sabotage and other unlawful incidents.
Police set up checkpoints at several key locations in Mongla municipality from Friday afternoon, including College Mor, the area near Mongla Police Station, the port-area bus stand and Dighraj.
Vehicles and suspected individuals are being searched at the checkpoints. Police are also checking vehicles for illegal transport and other suspicious activities as part of the enhanced security measures.
Mohammad Refatul Islam, Assistant Superintendent of Police of the Mongla Circle, said regular police patrols had been strengthened following instructions from police headquarters.
“Four checkpoints have been established at different points in Mongla. Three additional checkpoints have also been set up in Rampal,” he said.
According to the police official, the operations are primarily aimed at preventing drug trafficking, smuggling, the movement of illegal vehicles and acts of sabotage.
Police said the enhanced patrols and roadside checks would continue as part of efforts to maintain public safety and strengthen law and order in the area.
