Jessore, August 19-- A case has been filed against 200 unidentified individuals for their alleged involvement in the arson, looting, and killing of 24 people at Hotel Jabir International in Jessore. The hotel, owned by Shaheen Chakladar, Secretary of the Jessore Awami League, was targeted on August 5.

The complaint was lodged 15 days after the incident by Touhid Chakladar Fontu, the former Chairman of Jessore Sadar Upazila and cousin of Shaheen Chakladar. The case details that at around 3 pm on the day of the attack, a group of 200 miscreants entered the hotel armed with gunpowder and petrol. They first looted approximately 90 lakh taka from the cash vault and then proceeded to steal 100 refrigerators, 100 smart televisions, two generators, various stored goods, and essential hotel infrastructure, including a fire engine and electrical sub-station.

The attackers then set the 16-story hotel on fire, resulting in the deaths of 24 people, including an Indonesian national. The victims comprised both hotel staff and guests. The fire also caused extensive damage, destroying valuable documents, furniture, electrical items, elevators, and other key components of the hotel's infrastructure.

The delay in filing the case was attributed to unstable law and order conditions following the incident. Jessore Kotwali Police Station OC Abdur Razzak confirmed that the case, registered under number 22, is now under investigation. Authorities are committed to taking appropriate legal action in response to the tragic events.
