Khulna, Feb 20 (V7N) – The Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) administration has filed a case regarding the recent attack on students, while also imposing a ban on all forms of political activities within the institution.

The case was filed at Khan Jahan Ali Police Station on Wednesday night (February 19) by KUET Security Inspector Monicuzzaman Liton, naming unknown assailants as the accused.

Emergency Syndicate Meeting Decisions

In response to the incident, the 98th Emergency Syndicate Meeting was convened under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Dr. Muhammad Fishud. Key resolutions from the meeting include:

Strict actions against outsiders involved in the attack.

Identification and punishment of students responsible for the violence.

Continued ban on student involvement in political organizations, as per the 93rd Syndicate meeting's directive.

Prohibition of political affiliations for all teachers, officers, and employees.

Legal actions under university regulations against those responsible.

Formation of a four-member investigation committee, tasked with submitting a report within three working days.

On February 18, 2025, tensions escalated between two student groups, leading to a violent altercation. By 1:30 pm, students, under the banner of "General Students," presented four demands for a fair investigation.

Assured full cooperation and promised legal action against the perpetrators.

Contacted law enforcement agencies for urgent intervention.

Convened an emergency meeting at 3:30 pm with deans, directors, and faculty members to address the crisis.

However, before security forces could arrive, external attackers clashed with students. Despite efforts from the Vice-Chancellor, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, and faculty members to de-escalate the situation, multiple students, staff, and even the Vice-Chancellor sustained injuries and were treated at KUET Medical Center.

The KUET administration has urged students and faculty to remain calm, ensuring that all perpetrators will be brought to justice swiftly. Law enforcement has also been requested to maintain order and prevent further unrest on campus.
