Ukhiya, Feb 21 (V7N) – A colorful Kite Festival was held at the Ukhiya College ground in southern Cox's Bazar. The event was organized by the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

The festival took place on February 20 at 11:00 AM, with 30 students from Ukhiya College divided into six teams. Former Member of Parliament and Chairman of the Ukhiya College Governing Body, Shahjahan Chowdhury, inaugurated the event as the chief guest.

During his speech, he emphasized the significance of preserving such festivals, stating that they inspire students and help promote a drug-free society. He also stressed that these cultural events play an essential role in preserving Bangladesh’s heritage.

The Acting Principal of Ukhiya College, Shah Alam, mentioned that the festival was more than just a celebration—it served as a community gathering. Such events allow students to reconnect with the lost traditions of rural Bangladesh. He further stated that the festival was organized to create a student-friendly environment and inspire enthusiasm among students, which would make them more focused on their studies.

The Kite Festival was attended by several prominent figures, including the Secretary of Ukhiya Teacher’s Association and Head of the Bengali Department, Professor Syed Akbar, Professor Nabi Hossain from the Department of Islamic History and Culture, Professor Tahidul Alam from the History Department, and Advocate Chhami Uddin.
