Sylhet, July 10 (V7N) – The results of the 2025 Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations were officially released on Thursday, (July 10). Professor Md. Anwar Hossain Chowdhury, Chairman of the Sylhet Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, announced the results during a press briefing on Thursday afternoon.

This year, the Sylhet Education Board recorded a pass rate of 68.57 percent in the SSC examinations. A total of 102,219 candidates appeared for the exam, of which 70,091 students successfully passed.

Among the successful candidates, 28,684 were male students and 41,407 were female students. The pass rate among male students stood at 68.62 percent, slightly higher than the 68.54 percent pass rate recorded for female students.

In terms of academic excellence, a total of 3,614 students achieved the highest Grade Point Average (GPA-5), reflecting outstanding performance across all subjects.

The Sylhet Board’s performance this year shows a moderate success rate, with a notable number of students excelling. However, the pass rate remains below the national average, highlighting the continued need for systemic improvement in educational quality, resource allocation, and exam preparation support across institutions in the Sylhet region.

Education experts suggest that while the number of GPA-5 achievers is encouraging, the overall pass rate calls for enhanced teacher training, increased investment in school infrastructure, and student-centric learning models to ensure better outcomes in the coming years.

As the academic landscape of Bangladesh continues to evolve, regional disparities in education performance, such as those observed in Sylhet, underscore the urgency of targeted policy reforms and inclusive development strategies to uplift overall standards.
