Khagrachhari, Aug 26 (V7N) – The Bangladesh Secondary Teachers’ Association, Khagrachhari District Branch, organized a human chain on Monday at noon in front of the Khagrachhari Press Club, calling for the fulfillment of key demands related to the rights and status of government secondary school teachers.
The demonstration brought together assistant teachers from various government secondary schools across the Khagrachhari Hill District. Their primary demands included the recognition of assistant teacher positions as entry-level ninth grade under the BCS cadre, the establishment of an independent Directorate for Secondary Education, prompt promotion and appointment to vacant posts, approval of arrears in selection grades and time scales, and the preservation of administrative and financial authority of regional deputy directors, along with maintaining the distinct institutional identity of secondary schools.
Following the protest, representatives of the association submitted a memorandum addressed to the Honorable Chief Adviser. It was formally received on behalf of the District Commissioner by Nazmun Ara Sultana, Administrator of Khagrachhari Municipality and Deputy Director (Deputy Secretary) of the Local Government Division.
The teachers expressed hope that their long-standing demands would be addressed promptly by the relevant authorities to ensure fair treatment and professional recognition.
