Sylhet, Sept 18 (V7N) – Police recovered the body of a 19-year-old student, identified as Azman Ahmed Daniel, from his home in Subidbazar Bonkolapara under Sylhet’s Airport Police Station on Wednesday evening. According to police, he had allegedly taken his own life by hanging himself with a nylon cord tied to a ventilator in his room.

Daniel, son of Rashed Ahmed, was a second-year intermediate science student at Scholarshome, Shahid Eidgah campus. Police said they recovered the body around 5:30 p.m. and later sent it to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital for autopsy.

Family members stated that Daniel had been distressed after receiving poor results in his pre-test examinations. Following this, the principal and vice-principal of Scholarshome reportedly informed his parents that he would not be allowed to sit for the upcoming Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations due to inattentiveness in class and irregular attendance. His father added that he had earlier considered transferring Daniel to another institution. On the day of the incident, Daniel attended college before returning home, where he was later found dead. The family has not filed any complaint against the college authorities.

The news of his death sparked anger among current and former students as well as guardians, who accused Scholarshome of mismanagement, inadequate teaching staff, mistreatment of students, and expelling those with poor academic performance.
