New York, Feb 27, (V7N) - Michelle Trachtenberg, the beloved actress known for her roles in iconic 2000s TV shows and films such as Gossip Girl, Harriet the Spy, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, has tragically passed away at the age of 39.
Trachtenberg was found dead on Wednesday morning at 8 a.m. in her New York City apartment. Officers arrived to find her unconscious and unresponsive, and EMS confirmed her death at the scene. There is no indication of foul play, and the investigation is ongoing. The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
Her spokesperson, Gary Mantoosh, shared the family's sadness, asking for privacy during this difficult time.
Born in New York City, Trachtenberg began her career at the age of three, appearing in commercials before transitioning to television and film. She gained recognition for her recurring role as Dawn Summers in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and later starred in Gossip Girl, where she played the role of Georgina Sparks.
Her early roles included Harriet the Spy and The Adventures of Pete & Pete, and she gained significant attention with the Disney film Ice Princess. Most recently, she appeared in the Gossip Girl reboot on HBO Max and hosted the true crime series Meet, Marry, Murder.
Despite largely stepping back from acting in recent years, Trachtenberg remained active on social media, often sharing updates with her fans. She responded to health concerns from followers in 2023, posting messages defending her appearance and well-being.
Trachtenberg’s sudden passing has left fans and colleagues in shock, and her contributions to film and television will be remembered fondly.
