Dhaka, Apr 05 (V7N) – Actress Porimoni has responded emotionally to allegations made by a woman identifying herself as her housemaid, Pinky Akhtar, who claimed to have been physically abused by the actress over issues involving the feeding of Porimoni’s one-year-old daughter.

On Friday, Pinky lodged a general diary (GD) at the Bhatara Police Station in the capital, alleging that she was subjected to beatings and torture while working in Porimoni’s household. The GD has since sparked media reports and public discussion, prompting Porimoni to break her silence.

At around 1:45 AM, Porimoni appeared in a 21-minute Facebook Live, visibly emotional, where she offered her side of the story and criticized what she described as a “media trial.”

“If you look at my past life, you’ll understand that I haven’t lived with relatives – my entire family has been my staff,” said the popular Dhallywood actress. “I’ve always considered them my own, even writing about them on occasions like Mother’s Day or Father’s Day.”

She contested the status of the complainant, saying, “She has not even been here for a month… she can claim to be a housekeeper, but I will say that she is not my housekeeper.”

Porimoni also revealed that police visited her home between 9 and 9:30 PM, questioned the residents, and inspected the situation firsthand. She emphasized that she respects the law and has evidence to support her innocence.

Criticizing the media coverage, she said, “Couldn’t we, as media workers, wait a little longer? The way I was tortured, the way the news was fabricated, the way she [the housemaid] was interviewed—does this mean we, as media workers, are not giving her more privileges?”

She continued, “If anyone files a GD, does that automatically make the person guilty? Whether I’m famous or not, if I’ve made a mistake, I should be punished. But there must be proof.”

Throughout the video, Porimoni became visibly emotional several times and expressed frustration over what she called a rush to judgment by the media and public.

She concluded by reflecting on the power of public opinion, saying, “So many media trials are stopped, but the people are a whole media.”

The case has yet to see any formal legal proceedings beyond the GD, and no charges have been filed. Police have not made any official statement beyond confirming their visit to Porimoni’s residence.
