Titas snaps 16,000 illegal gas connections

Dhaka, Dec 26 (V7N)-Over the past four months, Titas Gas has disconnected a total of 16,102 illegal gas connections, including those for industrial, commercial, and residential use, as well as 39,764 burners.

This information was shared by Titas Gas in a press release on Thursday. Efforts to identify and remove illegal gas usage are ongoing.


The operations to disconnect illegal connections are being carried out in areas under Titas Gas's jurisdiction, including Keraniganj, Munshiganj, Narayanganj, Savar, Tongi, Gazipur, Dhanmondi, Mirpur, Gulshan, Mymensingh, Meghnaghat, and Narsingdi.

These drives are led by executive magistrates and supported by the company’s workforce.

From September to December 25 this year, the drives resulted in the disconnection of 128 industrial, 78 commercial, and 15,896 residential illegal gas connections, totalling 16,102. Additionally, 39,764 burners were disconnected.

The removal of these illegal connections has saved 10,626,233 cubic feet of gas daily, valued at approximately BDT 48,641,119.

As part of the drives, 86km of pipeline have also been removed, and in November, one individual was sentenced to imprisonment.
