Dhaka, Mar 01 (V7N) –Passengers can carry 250 milliliters of water for iftar on the metro platforms and trains during the month of Ramadan, the Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTC) has announced.
Usually, carrying water and food on the metro is prohibited.
The announcement was made on 27 February in a notice signed by Mohammad Ahsan Ullah Sharifir, Deputy Project Director (Public Relations) of MRT Line-6, as part of the schedule for metro operations during Ramadan.
The notice cautioned that passengers must ensure water does not spill and that the used water bottles must be disposed of in dustbins located at the platform, concourse, and entry-exit gates.

It was also mentioned that no food should be consumed under any circumstances inside the platform, concourse, or metro train.
The schedule for Saturdays, other public holidays, and Fridays will remain unchanged.
According to the Ramadan schedule, the metro will operate from 7:10am to 9:00pm from Uttara North Station and from 7:30a, to 9:40pm from Motijheel Station.
From Uttara North Station, it will run with a ten-minute headway from 7:10am to 7:30am and from 6:51pm to 9:00pm, and an eight-minute headway during other times.
From Motijheel Station, the train will run with a ten-minute headway from 7:30am to 8:00am and from 7:31pm to 9:40pm, with an eight-minute headway at other times.
