DHAKA, Mar 24 (V7N) — Eid-ul-Fitr holidaymakers have begun leaving Dhaka, with a surge in train passengers heading to their hometowns to celebrate the biggest religious festival of Muslims with family.

With trains being a preferred mode of travel due to efficiency, security, and affordability, Bangladesh Railway (BR) has ramped up special services and security measures at Kamalapur, Dhaka Airport, and Joydevpur stations to ensure a safe and smooth journey.

BR Director General Md Afzal Hossain assured passengers of safe and comfortable travel, stating that special trains with additional coaches have been deployed to handle the increased demand.

Five pairs of Eid Special trains will operate on major routes:

Chattogram-Chandpur-Chattogram

Dhaka-Dewanganj-Dhaka

Bhairab Bazar-Kishoreganj-Bhairab Bazar

Mymensingh-Kishoreganj-Mymensingh

Joydebpur-Parbatipur-Joydebpur

Additionally, a three-tier security system has been enforced, with Bangladesh Railway Police, Railway Security Force, Ansar, RAB, APBn, and local police monitoring key stations. CCTV surveillance and medical teams are on standby at Kamalapur and Dhaka Airport stations for emergencies.

"We are committed to ensuring passengers' safety," said Dhaka Divisional Commandant of Railway Security Force Mohammad Shafiqul Islam, confirming the deployment of 200 additional Ansar personnel.

Authorities have also restricted rooftop travel and implemented separate entry and exit gates to streamline crowd control.
