DHAKA, Apr 28 (V7N)- Pakistan's High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Syed Ahmed Maroof, met with Foreign Secretary Md. Jashim Uddin today, discussing "regional issues," according to a statement released by the Bangladesh Foreign Office.

"The High Commissioner of Pakistan briefed the Foreign Secretary about regional issues," the statement said, which is understood to refer to the heightened tensions between India and Pakistan following the terrorist attack in Kashmir.

The Pakistani envoy's visit occurred a day after Foreign Affairs Adviser Md. Touhid Hossain reiterated Bangladesh's support for a peaceful resolution to the India-Pakistan tensions over Kashmir, advocating for dialogue and diplomacy to ensure regional peace and stability.

The statement also indicated that the Foreign Secretary and the High Commissioner anticipate Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar's visit to Dhaka will be rescheduled for a mutually convenient time, as it was postponed due to the India-Pakistan tensions.

Both officials expressed satisfaction with the "constructive discussion and the successful conclusion" of the sixth round of Foreign Secretary Level Bilateral Consultations (FOC), which took place in Dhaka on April 17th. They highlighted the event as a positive step towards enhancing bilateral cooperation.

They stressed the importance of continued follow-up and further action by relevant authorities from both countries on the areas and issues discussed during the FOC.
