Jhalakathi, Apr 28 (V7N) - A tragic incident occurred in Nalchiti Upazila of Jhalakathi where a 25-year-old housewife, Asma Akhtar, died after being struck by lightning. Asma was the mother of a 15-day-old newborn.

The incident took place around 5:30 PM on Monday (April 28th) in Uttar Jurkathi village of Dapadapia Union in the upazila. The deceased, Asma, was the wife of Rubel Majhi, a local truck driver. The couple had two children, a six-year-old and their newborn.

Asma's husband, Rubel Majhi, recounted the heartbreaking event, saying, "My wife was returning home from the toilet in the evening. She was struck by lightning on the way and died instantly. I have two young children – I don't know how I will explain this to them, how I will comfort them."

Abdus Salam, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Nalchiti Police Station, confirmed the incident, stating, "We have received information about the death of a housewife due to lightning. Further action will be taken according to the legal process."
