Dhaka, July 25 (V7N) – A team of Chinese medical experts arrived at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery at 9 AM on Friday (July 25) to assess and assist in the treatment of victims injured in the Bangladesh Air Force fighter jet crash at Milestone School and College in Diyabari, Uttara.
According to hospital sources, 42 patients are currently undergoing treatment, 6 of whom are in critical condition.
The Chinese medical delegation, from the Wuhan Third Hospital in Hubei Province, will provide medical advice after reviewing the conditions of the burn victims. The team will coordinate treatment efforts with previously arrived Indian and Singaporean medical teams. A formal briefing on their findings and suggestions may follow.
Security at the Burn Institute has been significantly increased, with personnel from the Army, Police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), and Air Force deployed on-site.
Hospital authorities confirmed that no additional blood or skin donations are currently needed. The government will cover all treatment expenses for those injured in the crash.
Earlier, the Chinese team landed in Dhaka on Thursday night, where they were welcomed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport by Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen and Syeda Jasmine Sultana Milky, Director General of the Global Health Emergency Response Wing of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The plane crash occurred on Monday, when a Bangladesh Air Force fighter jet crashed into the Milestone School and College campus, triggering a massive fire. At least 31 people, most of them students, were killed in the incident.
