BOGURA, March 15, (V7N) – The Election Commission today officially distributed electoral symbols among the three candidates contesting the upcoming Bogura-6 (Sadar) by-election.
District Election Officer and Returning Officer Fazlul Karim handed out the symbols at 11:30 am.
- BNP candidate Rezaul Karim Badsha – Sheaf of Paddy
- Jamaat candidate Abidur Rahman Sohel – Daripalla (Scales)
- Bangladesh Development Party candidate Al Amin Talukder – Cauliflower
The by-election was called after Prime Minister Tarique Rahman vacated the Bogura-6 seat ahead of taking oath as a Member of Parliament. Rahman had been elected from two constituencies in the 13th National Parliament election and chose to retain the other seat, leaving Bogura-6 vacant.
Voting is scheduled for April 9, with the Election Commission assuring that all necessary preparations are in place to ensure a free, fair and impartial election. Returning Officer Karim expressed hope that voters would cast their ballots in a “festive and peaceful atmosphere.”
