DHAKA, Feb 21, 2026 (V7N) - The wife of former Biman Bangladesh Airlines Managing Director and CEO Md Shafiqur Rahman, arrested in connection with the torture of an 11-year-old domestic worker, has given a confessional statement at a Dhaka court.

After a seven-day remand, police produced the accused, Bithi, before Metropolitan Magistrate Ismail Hossain. Upon request from the investigation officer, she voluntarily agreed to record her statement, following which the court ordered her detention in jail, according to Sub-Inspector Tahmina Akter.

Shafiqur Rahman and his wife were arrested on February 1 from their Uttara Sector-9 residence and produced before the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court the next day. Their bail plea was rejected, and they were remanded for investigation.

On February 10, Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Zakir Hossain approved a seven-day remand for further inquiry.

The case, filed at Uttara West Police Station, involves allegations of severe abuse of the minor domestic worker, who was rescued with injuries and hospitalized earlier this month.
