CHATTOGRAM, May 8 (V7N) — Continuing a week of high-level maritime diplomacy, the Indian Navy Ship INS Sunayna docked at Chattogram Port today for a three-day goodwill visit aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and professional cooperation between the navies of Bangladesh and India.

The ship was escorted into Bangladeshi waters by the Bangladesh Navy frigate BNS Ali Haider, which provided a formal welcome to the visiting vessel.

Upon its arrival at the port, the captain, officers, and sailors of INS Sunayna were received by the Chief Staff Officer to the Commander of the Chattogram Naval Area.

Bangladesh Navy band performed traditional music as part of the welcoming ceremony. Senior naval officials and representatives from the Indian High Commission in Bangladesh were in attendance to mark the start of the visit.

The captain of INS Sunayna and the Naval Advisor of the Indian High Commission will meet with key officials, including the Commander Chattogram Naval Area, Commander BN Fleet, Area Superintendent Dockyard, and the Chairman of the Chattogram Port Authority.  Officers and sailors from both nations will participate in reciprocal ship visits. The Indian delegation is also scheduled to tour the Bangladesh Navy’s training base and visit significant historical and tourist landmarks across Chattogram.

This visit follows closely on the heels of the IOS Sagar's arrival earlier this week, highlighting a busy period of naval diplomacy in the Bay of Bengal. Officials noted that these exchanges are vital for sharing professional expertise and reinforcing the longstanding security partnership between the two neighboring countries.

INS Sunayna is scheduled to conclude its visit and depart from Bangladeshi waters on May 10, 2026.
