DHAKA, May 27, (V7N) – Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Administrator Md. Abdus Salam has urged residents to slaughter sacrificial animals only at designated sites and dispose of waste responsibly using jute bags.
Speaking at a press briefing after inspecting the National Eidgah, Salam said over 100,000 jute bags have been distributed among citizens to ensure quick removal of sacrificial waste and maintain cleanliness during Eid-ul-Adha. He stressed that dumping waste into drains must be avoided to prevent waterlogging during the monsoon.
State Minister for LGRD and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam was present at the briefing. Salam assured that DSCC is fully prepared to remove all sacrificial waste within three days of Eid, with special instructions from the Prime Minister to complete the task within 12 hours. He added that DSCC aims to finish the cleanup in 6–8 hours, and he will personally supervise operations for eight hours on Eid day.
To support hygiene, residents have been supplied with Savlon, bleaching powder, and disinfectants to wash sacrificial sites thoroughly. Salam emphasized that maintaining a healthy environment is a collective responsibility.
He also announced that all DSCC officials and employees’ leave has been cancelled during Eid so they can remain engaged in serving residents. Preparations include distributing eco-friendly bags, providing salt to madrasas and orphanages for preserving animal skins, cooperating with traffic police to reduce congestion, and assisting train passengers heading home for Eid.
This initiative reflects DSCC’s broader commitment to building a cleaner and greener Dhaka, ensuring that Eid celebrations do not disrupt urban life or public health.
