Dhaka, Sept 25 (V7N) – State Minister for Culture Ali Newaz Mahmood Khyom today said the government is sincerely working to restore the country's cultural heritage that was destroyed during the previous period, adding that the government has a long-term plan to bring art, literature and culture back to a Bangladesh-oriented path.
The state minister made the remarks as chief guest at the unveiling ceremony of the inaugural issue of children's magazine Shishubichitra at the Al Mahmud Writers' Corner of Bangla Academy here.
Programme Highlights
Recitation artiste Waliza Binte Shams conducted the programme, while Shishubichitra Editor Gazi Tanvir Ahmed delivered the welcome address. Principal Information Officer (PIO) Syed Abdal Ahmad attended the programme as the main discussant.
Children's writer and poet Zakir Abu Zafar, child researcher and writer Farhana Mannan, BNP Executive Committee Member A K Mozammel Haque, and Shishubichitra adviser and journalist Abid Azam attended as special guests.
Importance of Children's Literature
Speakers said quality children's literature has no alternative in fostering children's mental development, moral values and creative thinking. They said Shishubichitra would play an important role in encouraging children to read books and engage with literature in the technology-driven era.
Bangla Academy Director Dr Tapan Kumar Bagchi, fiction writer Moni Haider, film director Gazi Mahbub, film director and writer Gazi Jahangir, children's writer Imrul Yusuf, poet Alam Shams and children's book publisher Dewan Aziz, among others, were present.
