Doha, October 25, 2026 (V7N) – Invest Bangladesh Authority Chairman Ashik Chowdhury has highlighted Bangladesh's efforts to streamline investment promotion, strengthen institutional coordination and create an investor-friendly environment to attract international capital into clean energy and other priority sectors.
"The country is working to strengthen investment-supporting infrastructure and align energy-sector priorities with the requirements of global investors to accelerate the energy transition," he said.
Ashik Chowdhury made the remarks while participating in a ministerial panel discussion at the Global Investment Promotion Conference, held as part of the World Investment Forum (WIF) 2026 in Doha, Qatar. The panel, titled "From Climate Priorities to Investment: Accelerating the Energy Transition Project Pipeline," focused on how countries can translate climate commitments and energy-sector priorities into commercially viable, investment-ready projects capable of attracting international financing.
Ashik Chowdhury said Bangladesh's investment promotion strategy places emphasis on bringing investment-related functions under a unified institutional framework to simplify investors' engagement with government agencies and reduce administrative complexities.
He described the consolidation of government agencies as a challenging administrative task, stressing that overcoming institutional fragmentation is essential to improving the investment climate and facilitating investment. The initiative is expected to strengthen coordination among investment promotion, policy research, industrial land development and transaction structuring, helping investors navigate the project development process more efficiently, he said.
He noted that better institutional coordination could also help address long-standing challenges related to land availability, regulatory procedures and the preparation of commercially viable projects, particularly in the infrastructure and energy sectors.
Highlighting Bangladesh's clean energy investment prospects, he said the country aims to attract investment in utility-scale solar power generation, renewable energy projects for industries and supporting electricity transmission and grid infrastructure. Developing bankable projects, ensuring access to suitable land and establishing predictable regulatory arrangements are crucial to attracting long-term private investment in these areas, he added.
He said the integrated investment promotion framework is expected to connect international developers and financiers with viable investment opportunities while improving coordination among the relevant government institutions.
The World Investment Forum, organised by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), brings together policymakers, business leaders and representatives of investment institutions from across the world to discuss global investment trends, challenges and opportunities.
Invest Bangladesh is also scheduled to showcase Bangladesh's investment potential and opportunities to international investors on Monday as part of efforts to strengthen the country's position as a destination for foreign direct investment (FDI). Through its participation in the forum, Bangladesh aims to highlight how institutional reforms, improved project preparation and stronger coordination can help mobilise international capital for sustainable economic growth and accelerate the country's transition towards clean energy.
