Dhaka, Apr 24 (V7N)- The National Citizens Party (NCP) staged a torchlight procession this evening in front of the National Press Club, demanding a complete ban on the Awami League, labeling it a "genocidal party," and calling for the formation of a Constituent Assembly through fresh elections.

The event, organized by the NCP Shahbagh Zone, featured fiery speeches from party leaders who insisted that justice must be served for what they termed as the Awami League's "crimes against the people." They demanded an immediate end to all political activities of the party.

NCP Joint Convener Sarwar Tushar said, “It took 16 years to remove the Awami League, but it won’t take even 15 days to resist those attempting to rehabilitate them. The dream of a new Bangladesh can only be achieved through a complete reform process and the election of a Constituent Assembly.”

The NCP also slammed the government's handling of the recent KUET (Khulna University of Engineering & Technology) incident. The party issued a strong warning, stating that unless the Vice Chancellor of KUET is removed, they would launch a long march toward Khulna.

Following the protest rally, NCP leaders and supporters marched with torches in hand toward Bangabandhu Avenue, continuing their demand for justice and political transformation.

The procession marks a rising wave of anti-establishment sentiment as calls for governance reform and political accountability grow louder in post-transition Bangladesh.
