MONGLA, June 13, (V7N) – Miscreants attacked and vandalized the Coast Guard's Harbaria station in Joymonirghole in Mongla's Sundarbans, injuring three Coast Guard personnel on duty. Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Sabbir Alam Sujan confirmed the incident on Thursday afternoon, stating that the Bangladesh Coast Guard has been performing its duties to ensure overall security of the Sundarbans, suppress forest piracy, preserve biodiversity, and maintain law and order in coastal areas.

The Joymonirghol area under Mongla police station has long been known as an important base for bandits and their associates, leading the Coast Guard to establish a station there. As a result, the supply of supplies, logistical support, weapons, and other equipment to bandits has been effectively blocked, making it increasingly difficult for them to carry out criminal activities. The bandits and their associates reportedly do not want the Coast Guard's presence in that area.

A group of miscreants carried out the ambush and vandalism at the Coast Guard station on Thursday morning, injuring three members on duty. The Coast Guard has taken necessary measures to bring the situation under control and is conducting a joint operation to uncover the real cause of the incident. Steps are also being taken to identify those involved and bring them under the law.

Initial information indicates that some vested interest and unscrupulous groups are systematically carrying out attacks, vandalism, propaganda, and misleading activities to remove the Coast Guard from the area to facilitate their own misdeeds. The attacks appear aimed at obstructing the Coast Guard's successful operations in suppressing forest piracy and maintaining law and order.

The Bangladesh Coast Guard stated that no kind of propaganda, misinformation, or conspiracy will disrupt its ongoing duties and operational activities. Media personnel, local people, and all concerned have been requested to verify factual information and play a responsible role. The Coast Guard remains committed to maintaining the security, peace, and stability of the Sundarbans and coastal areas.
