Rampal, July 13 (V7N) — Akhtar Hossain, General Secretary of the National Citizen Party, stated that the people of Bangladesh have always wanted the country’s environment, nature, and climate to be suitable for its people. However, he expressed concerns over the Rampal coal-based thermal power plant, which he claimed poses a serious threat to the climate of the region.
He also criticized the foreign conspiracy surrounding Mongla Port, emphasizing that Bangladesh will not tolerate any foreign interference in its national infrastructure.
He made these remarks during his speech as the chief guest at the National Citizen Party’s march event held at Foyla Bazaar, Rampal Upazila in Bagerhat on Saturday afternoon.
During the event, Sarjis Alam, the chief organizer of the northern region for the National Citizen Party, added that the aspirations the people had during the 24th Uprising remain unfulfilled. He noted that extortion, murders, and terrorism still plague society, and therefore, their fight continues.
The march was led by Mazidur Rahman Jewel, the chief coordinator for Mongla-Rampal of the National Citizen Party. Also addressing the gathering were Nasir Uddin Patoari, the party’s chief organizer, and Molla Rehmatullah, the joint chief organizer for the southern region.
Following the march in Foyla Bazaar, the National Citizen Party leaders proceeded to Bagerhat Sadar.
