Dhaka, Oct 13 (V7N) – The National Citizens Party (NCP) has temporarily suspended its central organizer, Muntasir Mahmud, for violating party discipline. In addition, the party has issued a show-cause notice asking him to explain why permanent suspension should not be imposed. The notice, signed by NCP office member Sadiya Farzana Dinara, was sent on Sunday night.
The letter states, “Serious allegations of disciplinary violation have been raised against you. After preliminary verification, in accordance with the instructions of NCP convenor Nahid Islam and member secretary Akhtar Hossain, you are temporarily relieved from all organizational activities. You are requested to submit a written explanation to the head of the central disciplinary committee, Advocate Abdullah Al-Amin, within 48 hours, stating why permanent suspension should not be imposed.”
The specific reason for this disciplinary action was not disclosed in the party’s letter. Earlier on Sunday afternoon, Muntasir Mahmud led a group to the central office of the Red Crescent Society in Moghbazar to protest the alleged rehabilitation of Awami League supporters by the organization, chaired by Major General (Retd.) Azizul Islam. Following this, the NCP issued the show-cause notice and temporary suspension letter.
Responding on his Facebook page Sunday night, Muntasir Mahmud stated, “In July, a traitor told me that this chairman is linked to Jamaat and is facilitating Awami League rehabilitation on their behalf. As a result, he could take no action. Today, under the direct orders of the same traitor, police attacked us. I have all the evidence. The blame is being shifted onto Jamaat and BNP through this betrayal. I may now be targeted to destroy evidence, but I will gradually reveal everything. I will maintain a peaceful presence at the Red Crescent Society until this fascist chairman resigns or is removed.”
