Dhaka, Oct 29 (V7N)- National Citizens Party (NCP) chief organizer Nasiruddin Patwari has said that the BNP made a mistake by signing the July Charter without seeing the implementation process, and that mistake should not be imposed on other parties.
He made the remarks in response to the recommendations of the National Consensus Commission on the implementation of the charter at the NCP central office on Wednesday (October 29).
Patwari stated that NCP will not sign the charter before the July Charter Implementation Order Bill is officially published, demanding its release signed by Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus at the Central Shaheed Minar.
Regarding the referendum, he said NCP will not take sides in the BNP-Jamaat dispute over its timing. “The referendum must be fair whether held before or after the elections. If it is on election day, there is fear of disruption. Its timing should depend on the Election Commission,” he added. He also accused BNP-Jamaat of not prioritizing a fair referendum earlier.
The NCP leader further alleged that BNP compromises with the Awami League at night despite opposing them during the day and warned that any attempts to undermine the July Charter would be resisted. He urged BNP not to hold meetings with foreign embassy officials or the Jatiya Party to restore the Awami League.
