Dhaka, Oct 31 (V7N) — Former State Minister for Education and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leader A.N.M. Ehsanul Hoque Milan was stopped from leaving the country at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Thursday morning.

Immigration officials said Milan was scheduled to fly to Bangkok at 11 a.m. on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight for medical treatment. However, he was denied permission to board due to a travel restriction imposed on him. Authorities confirmed the restriction but did not disclose the reason behind it.

Speaking to Media on Thursday night, Milan said he had not been informed of any official reason for the ban. “I do not know why I was prevented from traveling abroad. The authorities should explain why they are afraid of a citizen like me,” he said, adding that he plans to hold a press conference on Friday to discuss the matter.

Officials familiar with the case said such travel bans are typically enforced in connection with ongoing investigations or pending legal proceedings.
