Narsingdi, Nov 05 (V7N) – Senior Nayeb-e-Ameer of Islami Andolon Bangladesh, Mufti Syed Muhammad Faizul Karim, has called on voters to reject the ruling Awami League, the BNP, and the Jatiya Party, and instead vote for his party’s Hat pakha, (hand fan) symbol to establish an Islamic system of governance in Bangladesh. He made the remarks on November 4 at a public rally in Palash upazila of Narsingdi.
Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Faizul Karim said that people have witnessed the rule of the Awami League, BNP, and Jatiya Party for decades but have seen no real change. “Give us one chance to form a government under the Islamic system by voting for the hand fan symbol. If we fail, we will never contest an election again,” he declared.
He criticized the current electoral process, saying that elections alone cannot bring freedom. “Every election has only produced new corrupt and criminal leaders. If thugs and extortionists return to power, there will be no liberation for the people,” he said. Karim emphasized that genuine reform and justice must come before any new election under the July Charter, and that the vote should be conducted under a proportional representation (PR) system to ensure fairness.
Faizul Karim warned that voters must bear moral responsibility for electing corrupt and violent politicians. “Those who use their votes to elect killers, extortionists, and abusers of power share the burden of their crimes,” he said. “As Muslims, we cannot stray from Islam. And even non-Muslims should vote for the hand fan symbol to ensure justice, peace, and the safety of their lives and property.”
He called for an equal justice system for people of all faiths — Muslims, Hindus, Christians, and Buddhists — without discrimination.
The Islamic leader also accused the major political parties of repeated failures in governance. “The BNP became world champion in corruption three times during its five-year rule from 2001 to 2006,” he said, adding that similar criminal behavior is already visible among opposition activists before even returning to power.
Faizul Karim mocked the party symbols of his rivals, saying, “Those who contest under the boat symbol cannot row a boat, those under the paddy sheaf cannot harvest paddy, and those under the plough cannot till the land. But everyone, rich or poor, male or female, can use a hand fan. It is the true symbol of the people.”
The rally was presided over by the Islami Andolon Bangladesh candidate for Narsingdi-2 (Palash) constituency, Engineer Mohsin Ahmed. Other speakers included Islami Jubo Andolon Central Organizing Secretary (Dhaka Division) Arif bin Meher Uddin, District Secretary Mohammad Rakibul Hasan, Organizing Secretary Sheikh Sadi Shakil, National Teachers Forum District President Wali Khan, Jubo Andolon Vice President Mobarak Hossain, and Palash Unit President Md. Solaiman Bhuiyan.
