Dhaka, Sep 17 (V7N): BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman emphasized that Bangladesh will move forward on an election roadmap through reform initiatives, highlighting the necessity of political empowerment and public involvement in the process.

Speaking virtually at BNP's rally at Nayapaltan in Dhaka, Tarique stated that any progress in democracy would be unsustainable without ensuring the active participation of the people in these reforms. He stressed the need for reform programs aimed at establishing an accountable government and a parliament comprised of elected representatives chosen by the people.

"Political empowerment can only be achieved by securing the right of voters to select their representatives through a free, fair, and impartial election," he said.

While acknowledging that the interim government has initiated several reforms, Tarique warned that if proper priorities are not set, disruptive elements could attempt to hinder the progress achieved by the mass uprising.
