Nov 06, V7N- David Warner has called on Cricket Australia (CA) to clarify the reasons behind the decision to change the ball during the match between India A and Australia A in Mackay on Sunday. The incident occurred on the final day of the four-day match when umpire Shawn Craig informed the Indian players that the ball would be changed due to its deterioration. This led to a confrontation with wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan, who disagreed with the decision, calling it "stupid," while Craig warned him of being reported for dissent.
 
CA later released a statement confirming that the ball change was due to the ball's condition, and no further action would be taken. However, Warner, who was banned for his involvement in the infamous "Sandpaper-gate" ball-tampering scandal, expressed concern over the lack of clarity. He suggested that CA should address the issue publicly, especially with the India team set to visit for the five-Test series this summer.
 
Warner emphasized that the umpires and match referee should be the ones to explain the decision, and he felt CA should release a statement to provide transparency. Despite the heated exchange, he believed the matter was quickly resolved due to the approaching series between India and Australia. 
 
Warner's comments come as he took on the role of captain for Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash League, six years after the "Sandpaper-gate" scandal. While Warner was banned from leadership roles for his involvement in the 2018 South Africa incident, CA lifted the ban last month after a review panel acknowledged his remorse and genuine acceptance of responsibility.
