Jan 18, 2025 (V7N) — The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed on Friday that Fielding Coach Nic Pothas has stepped down from his role, citing family reasons.
Pothas, 49, had one year remaining on his contract but chose to leave early. He joined Bangladesh’s coaching staff in April 2023, initially as an Assistant Coach before moving into the Fielding Coach role.
BCB CEO Nizam Uddin Chowdhury expressed gratitude for Pothas’s service:
"We thank Nic for his dedication and valuable contributions to Bangladesh cricket. His efforts and overall coaching expertise have been greatly appreciated. We respect his decision and wish him the very best in his future endeavors."
Before his tenure with Bangladesh, Pothas served as head coach for both the West Indies and Sri Lanka.
The BCB has yet to announce a replacement. Bangladesh’s next major challenge is the ICC Champions Trophy, set to take place in the USA and Pakistan next month.
