Jan 20 (V7N) -Khulna Tigers defeated Durbar Rajshahi by seven runs in a high-scoring Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) clash on Sunday at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium. Despite a brilliant century by Anamul Haque, Rajshahi fell short in their chase.
Khulna’s Dominant Batting Performance
Batting first, Khulna Tigers posted an imposing total of 209/4. Afif Hossain top-scored with 56 off 42 balls, supported by William Bosisto’s unbeaten 55 off 37. A late blitz by Mahidul Islam Ankon, who smashed 30 off just 12 balls, helped Khulna cross the 200-run mark. Taskin Ahmed took two wickets for Rajshahi but conceded runs at critical moments.
Anamul Haque’s Century in Vain
In reply, Rajshahi’s captain Anamul Haque led the chase with a magnificent 100 off 57 balls, including five sixes and nine fours. Jishan Alam (30 off 15) and Ryan Burl (25 off 16) provided support but couldn’t propel Rajshahi to victory. They finished at 202/4, falling just short of the target.
Bowling Highlights
Hasan Mahmud claimed two wickets for Khulna, while Abu Hider and Salman Irshad picked up one each to keep Rajshahi at bay.
This win marked Khulna’s third victory in seven matches, while Rajshahi suffered their fifth loss in eight games, complicating their playoff aspirations.
