Paris, Sep 10 (V7N)- Defending champions Paris Saint-Germain made a sensational start to their 2026–27 UEFA Champions League campaign, demolishing Slovan Bratislava 6–1 at the Parc des Princes.
Luis Enrique’s side, bidding for a third consecutive Champions League crown, produced a dominant display as newcomer Ferran Torres scored a stunning hat-trick, while reigning Ballon d’Or winner Ousmane Dembélé added two goals.
Torres, who had recently come under criticism after a photograph of him using his mobile phone beside the training pitch went viral, delivered the perfect response on his Champions League debut for PSG.
The Spanish forward completed his hat-trick in just 26 minutes, scoring between the 31st and 57th minutes to put the contest firmly beyond Slovan’s reach.
PSG had already taken control of the match before Torres’ arrival on the scoresheet. Dembélé opened the scoring in the 17th minute, reacting quickest to a rebound after Nuno Mendes’ effort struck the woodwork.
The French star doubled PSG’s advantage six minutes later, heading home an excellent cross from 18-year-old midfielder Dro Fernandez.
Dembélé was again involved in Torres’ scoring exploits as PSG continued to overwhelm their Slovakian opponents.
Fabián Ruiz completed the scoring for the hosts late in the match, sealing a comprehensive 6–1 victory.
PSG’s dominance was reflected in the statistics, with the French champions registering 35 shots at goal, including 13 on target.
The emphatic victory sends an early message to Europe’s elite that PSG’s pursuit of an unprecedented third consecutive Champions League title has begun in formidable fashion.
