DHAKA, July 28 (V7N)— Bangladesh pacers Nahid Rana and Taskin Ahmed departed for Australia on Tuesday for medical and physical assessments ahead of the national team's upcoming two-match Test series against Australia.
Following his assessment, Taskin will remain in Australia to link up with the main Bangladesh squad, which is scheduled to leave Dhaka on July 31. Conversely, Nahid Rana, who has already been ruled out of the entire Test series due to a Grade 2 side strain, will return to Bangladesh upon completing his evaluation to begin rehabilitation.
Shahriar Nafees, Chairman of BCB Cricket Operations, stated that Nahid's trip is intended to conduct detailed medical examinations not only for his side strain but also for a recurring shinbone issue. "He is being sent to Australia for assessment. The side strain will heal naturally. In addition, the long-standing foot issue he has been managing will also be tested," Nafees told reporters.

Though ruled out of the series opener, Shoriful is expected to undergo a fitness test on August 12, with the board hopeful he will be cleared for the second Test.
The upcoming tour marks Bangladesh's first Test series in Australia in 23 years, forming part of the ICC World Test Championship cycle. The first Test will commence at Marrara Oval in Darwin on August 13, followed by the second Test at the Great Barrier Reef Arena in Mackay on August 22.
