Manchester, Aug 7 (V7N) - Manchester City have reportedly rejected an opening bid of €38.5 million ($52 million) from Barcelona for World Cup winner Rodri, according to multiple reports.

The 30-year-old midfielder has just one season remaining on his contract at the Etihad Stadium and has been strongly linked with a return to his native Spain. City are understood to value Rodri at around €68 million.

Rodri, who was named player of the tournament at the recent World Cup in North America, had appeared destined for Real Madrid, but Barcelona now seem to be in pole position for his signature.

The Spaniard joined City from Atletico Madrid in 2019, winning multiple Premier League titles and the 2023 Champions League under Pep Guardiola. He also won Euro 2024 and the Ballon d'Or that year, before a serious knee injury sidelined him for much of the 2024/25 campaign.
