Feb 18, (V7N) - Violence has continued to escalate following the RSF’s assault on North Darfur.
The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has issued a warning that intensifying clashes in Zamzam and El-Fasher are endangering the lives of hundreds of thousands of children.
In a statement to AFP, civilian officials from Zamzam accused the RSF of seeking to completely wipe out the displaced population.
"The situation in Darfur is not merely a conflict—it is an ongoing, documented genocide that demands urgent international intervention," they stated.
On Friday, Amnesty International condemned the attack on Zamzam as "unconscionable," emphasizing the necessity for "real international pressure" and advocating for a nationwide arms embargo.
Meanwhile, in Tawila, the Sudan Liberation Army has pledged to protect the displaced families seeking refuge there.
However, conditions remain dire. With no food or financial resources, Sarah and others displaced by the conflict are forced to sleep on the bare ground under the open sky.
"We fled with nothing but the clothes we were wearing. We have no belongings, not even a blanket to keep warm at night," she shared with AFP.
